Blurred Mirror was the first piece I wrote for rhythm section and soloist (myself), and in the beginning it didn’t feel like “me” (even though I didn’t really know what “I” was in terms of composition). I felt that the piece I had just written was a collection of things that I liked about other people, instead of being something that came completely out of me. Then, after I had written it I was talking to a friend, explaining to him what I was feeling about the piece and he told me that it sounded to him like “Blurred Mirror,” and I immediately thought that it made perfect sense, it perfectly captured what I was feeling at the moment. Like if I knew it was me, but there is something impeding me to see clearly, almost like if I was confusing myself with someone else.


Blurred Mirror fue la primera pieza que compuse para un formato de sección rítmica y solista; y en un principio no se sentía tanto como a “mi” (aunque yo mismo no sabia lo que “yo” era en términos de composición). Sentía que la pieza que acababa de escribir era una aglomeración de cosas que me gustaban de otras personas, mas que si hubiera sido algo que totalmente haya salido de mi; entonces hablando con un amigo acerca de lo que sentía de la pieza me dijo que eso le sonaba a “blurred mirror” y pensé que describía perfectamente lo que sentía. Como que sí soy yo, pero hay algo impidiendo poder verme claramente, casi como si me confundiera a mí mismo con alguien mas.
