Sometimes, when I listen to music I can see things, those things could be as simple as shapes or colors; or they can be as if I was watching a feature film, with characters, landscapes, camera cuts or fades, movement and more. Fuera de Cause is special for me because it is the first time that I decided to make music from one of my “visions.”

This piece is about a river, from the time it’s born in the mountain, to the moment it reaches the ocean. It tells the complete process of the river, how it gets formed, coming out of the mountain; passing through different places, experiencing rain, drought, heavy currents, waterfalls and many other things but never stoping its way to reach the ocean. But when it is too much, when the rain has exceeded the limit that it can hold, then what used to be a really small current of water becomes a massive destructive force, taking everything that gets in its way.

But the rain stops, and slowly, the river comes back to its natural state, but its different from before. Now it’s carrying with it a lot of different nutrients, animals and other things that it didn’t have before. Finally, the river reaches the ocean, thinking that it’s its final destination, just to evaporate, repeat the cycle and start all over again.


A veces cuando escucho música puedo ver cosas, estas pueden ser tan simples como formas o colores; o pueden ser como si viera un largometraje en mi mente, com personajes, paisajes, cortes de cámara, movimiento y demás. Fuera de cauce es muy especial porque es la primera vez que decido hacer música con una de estas “visiones.”

Esta pieza es acerca de un rio, desde que nace en la montaña, hasta que desemboca en el mar. Relata el proceso completo del rio, como se forma, siendo un pequeño riachuelo, saliendo de la montaña; pasando por diferentes lugares, experimentando lluvias, sequía, corrientes fuertes, cascadas, y muchas mas cosas pero nunca deteniéndose en su camino hacia el mar. Y cuando ya es demasiado, cuando ya las lluvias han sobrepasado el limite que puede soportar, entonces este riachuelo, esta corriente casi insignificante de agua se convierte en una fuerza de gran destrucción, arrastrando todo lo que ve a su paso, sale de su cauce.

Pero las lluvias cesan, y lentamente el rio vuelve a su estado natural, pero no como comenzó, si no ahora cargando un sin numero de nutrientes, animales y demás cosas que no tenia antes. Y finalmente, el rio llega al oceano, pensando que es su destino final, solo para que al evaporarse, repetir el ciclo y comenzar otra vez.
